04062026 – 09062026 “Bish Bosh! We’re off to Den Bosch!” Day 2 “Bacon and Den Bosch”

After a good first night at the campsite we awoke to the sight of grey cloudy skies and drizzling rain.

After a delicious bacon role provided by Mr Young we assembled all ready and kitted out. The plan was to walk to the bus stop about 15 minutes away and catch the bus into den Bosch. However when we set off the rain intensity seemed to suddenly increase so we ran back and sheltered from the storm. Two or three attempts later we did find ourselves at the bus stop.

Time for a quick walk-through practise of The Poacher & Milley’s Bequest before the bus arrived. By now it was midday and the Squire picked out Bossche Stadsbrouwerij microbrewery for the first stop where we had lunch. It was a bit of a trek but worth it just for the in-house Pipa 2 IPA at a mere 6.2%. We performed a quick Bumpus and Sweet Jenny Jones in a very tight space which was rewarded with free refills of beer.

We proceeded into the town centre and settled in a bar opposite the town hall where several marriages were taking place. Happy horse. After a few more dances to delight the crowds we headed in the direction of the cathedral which sadly was closed. A few chaps had their ‘Bosch Bol’ – a local patisserie delight. A plan to dance at a nearby bar was thwarted by loudspeaker music so we returned to the central square and performed some more dances.

A chap on a bike saw us and asked if we could dance at his bar Nom Nom which we duly did only to be rewarded with even more free beer! Most of us then dined at ‘t Keershuys bistro to finish the evening before returning to the campsite for nightcaps and chit chat at chez Young caravan.
