01012024  New Years Day: The Cricketers Hartley Wintney

Again, we lucked out with the weather and a large crowd took advantage to come and watch. Nice to see so many familiar faces and regular supporters of Yateley Morris – it really is much appreciated.

We were a little short of dancers but luckily our country member Max came to the rescue and joined in. Again, a good selection of dances including the premiere performance of Captain Lano’s – a particularly challenging new dance for us – which went amazingly well!

The horse had made a recovery by now and put in a mischievous appearance much to the delight(?) of members of the audience – particularly the youngchildren who taunted him at every opportunity!

And talking of young children we had our youngest ever recruit join us today –Baz & Sue’s grandson three-year-old Noah. And what a splendid display of YMM kit he was wearing. Well done Noah!

The Mummers Play was well received. Even although many of the audience have seen it several times before it always puts a smile on people’s faces. Our thanks also to Max, Baz and David for putting on a jig performance whilst the Mummers cast prepared their outfits.

A coupe of keen lads even found time to drop into the D&P and perform with Pilgrim MM and Customs & Excise!

So there we go. Another fine festive display from the Yateley Morris Men much enjoyed by the performers as well as the audiences. Our thanks to all who came out to watch and support us over the Christmas period and we look forward to seeing you again in 2024. Happy New Year!
