Shock to the system, no cooked breakfast to start off with, but teas and cake hospitality at St Peters tent. Lots of us out, about 11 dancers and 4 musicians, to support our local communities. Great to see our Rod out with us as well! We busked around the arena doing 3 long spots, with one stop longer than most when we found the beer tent. Great beer (Sunbird Brewery) and reasonable prices. Wary eyes followed the Beast wherever he went… Absolutely beautiful day, record breaking temperatures saw the Fool in blackshirt forsaking broiling woollen coat or smock. Wise Fool. Water pistol was welcome for once, put poor Chris off playing when his groin was soaked – evil Fool! Met lots of YOBs (Yateley Old Boys), such a pleasue to catchup. A huge turn out from the local community, just about every local group had a stall. Well done the Lions as well, stirling work.
Off to Crowthorne May Fair for an arena spot via the beer tent (TEA) where we again failed miserably to negotiate a discount. Lovely intro from the Mayor and event organiser and we were on. Excellent performance in the heat and on grass with a set of mixed and interesting dances, with Fool blather giving the dancers a chance to catch breath. Skirmish, Highland Mary, Vandals, OWTU (pick of the day!), Blue Eyed Stranger and a well received joinny inny (including the very game Mayor) Shepherd’s Hey. Plus a sparkling Princess Royal jig from Max! Time for a quick visit to the busy beer tent for a beer, sample some scout sausages and break some furniture. Diehards returned to the D&P in Yateley, others for a cool glass of wine on their patios.
