07072026 Cricketers, Hartley Wintney

All a bit lovely. Quiet road, nice village, warm sun, welcoming and generous pub, the sound of bells and song, lively dancing, a cricket match just behind us, a slightly tipsy Fool (Inch’s cider was the culprit) and a relaxed, chatty audience – essentially English and very precious.

A great turn out from the lads and, despite the heat, the Squire cracked the whip and got us dancing! The dancing was of a good standard

We have recently enjoyed great morris company with Thames Valley Morris, Winchester MM and 14 other sides in Alton, but tonight just us ourselves.

A perfect little balmy evening,

Pick of the dances : Old Woman Tossed Up, Long Fieldtown

Pick of the beers : TEA
