Great to be part of this growing local event! Many of the men were involved anyway – Phil with the scouts, Ian with St Peters and the choir, Greg with the local youth and Tom with the WI. We are more connected than we thought
We again happily took the job of performing while groups swopped over on the stage. Kept us busy! Seemed to work well and the lovely Yateley & District Lions Club seemed to like our Fool doing the general announcing…..Fool and microphone, usually a dangerous combination. Chris Cole’s team were excellent with the PA. We missed most of the Eng vs Aus match and many lads failed to prop up the bar as usual – just as well. The D&P generously supplied us with beer the following Tuesday. Thank you!
Lots of lively and noisy dancing, in general of very good quality, with many 8 man dances. A good sized audience, many of them connected with us through friends or through the morris, were enthusiastic in their applause and eager to chat.
The Horse used the daylight to mix with a wary crowd (Yateley has an ambiguous relationship with our beast!). A bizarre new beast was seen in one dance – our Fool had swopped his hedge of a hat for a girls unicorn hat/scarf! It would have looked better the right way round, tho….
We got an invite to pose (what, us?) for the Yat Cam Soc and we all piled into a rather small gazebo, happily gurning away for the camera. The results should be interesting. We also started a run on the Yateley Society calendars, our Mummers featuring in Jan 2020!
We are back again at the Dog and Partridge, Church End on Boxing Day at 1300 for more dancing AND our celebrated Mummer’s Play. Hope to see you there! A few photos of previous Boxing Days to whet your appetites.
