19102024 Prince of Wales Beer Festival

19102024 Prince of Wales Beer Festival

One of our favourite events, we arrived by train, foot, car and bike in unexpected good weather. Good turn out from the lads, 8 dancers and 5 wunnerful musicians. Smart kit gleaming in the autumn sun.

We met Aidan a year ago at this event, one year on it was a delight to see Aidan dancing in his own Yateley kit, just the coveted baldric badges to come, who knows it could be YOU in a years time dancing out with us! If you are interested in dancing or playing, get in touch.

Change of layout with the bar at the back of the huge marquee. Warm reception from a great and expectant audience in the noisy marquee. Fool roaring away to get heard…..

3 spots, each with 6 dances. Phew. Some great dancing as well, Ian (SoTD) had a good programme and kept us busy. Good to see Cap Lanos danced out with some confidence! Horse, Fool and enthusiastic sales team kept the audience engaged – a good all round performance!

The Horse happily ran amok in the marquee, endearing himself to some… Serving lasses wary of our Horse used hulking boyfriends as stationary obstacles to prevent the Brute’s planned foray into the serving/bar area – foiled this year, but there will be next year…

Some great beers. Many, many darker beers this year – a definite trend away from the lighter, often overhopped  IPA types. Great fun exploring the beers. We were perhaps over zealous as the beers were all finished up by the end of the day.

The Fool did a loud ‘thank you and goodbye’ at the very end – the applause from the tent as he walked out was tremendous!

Pick of the dances – Capn Lanos

Pick of the beers – Thurston’s
