What a great night to finish our Tuesday night dancing schedule 2024! Great weather, great pub, great audience and a great turn out from the lads.
Always an atmospheric night, dancing in daylight, through the dusk and into a dark, balmy autumn evening – white shirts shining and brass bells twinkling. Well supported by our lovely families and friends – including a large contingent who had enjoyed our performance in Fleet so much they had booked up for a meal at the F&G. A lovely touch, they had made personalised handkerchieves with tiny bells a the corners o they they could join – which they did!
A lively set of dances, with 12 dancers jostling to get into the set, with the usual japes of dancing on quite a steep slope. Plenty of mirth and chatter in the sets. All pretty good. TWO dances included most of the crowd – much shouting, laughter and ‘who’s hat is this?’.
Two Fools incited mayhem, the Brutish One took liberties in the fading light scaring off the younger Youngs (‘To the Hills!’). A really good fun and relaxed performance.
Everyone piled into the pub packing the main room, management had very generously laid on a buffet for us – really, really kind of them. Heads down to eat and heads up for a great music and song session. Trad songs, new songs, skits (Ben Kenobi To Ri Ay indeed…) and a host of instruments and tunes. The sad song ‘Hartlepool Monkey’ was sung by David, only to be interrupted by the arrival of the monkey’s bigger and uglier cousin. Loudest shrieks of the night rang through the pub, horrified looks from the younger Youngs as they realised that there was ANOTHER dark, scary and unpredictable Beast with the morris.
Cracking night – thank you pub, crowd and musicians.
Pick of the Beers – Landlord
Pick of the Dances – Old Woman Tossed Up, Fi (including David’s sung introduction!)

Feedback!
‘Thanks for giving me a wonderful evening. Everything I saw last night was something I saw in movies. I never imagined that I could be there last night and participate in the dance event! It’s such an honour. I thoroughly enjoy life in the UK. Thanks to my friends for inviting me to join it. Let me integrate into British life. Let me know more about British culture and history. I love it very much
Thank you even more for your wonderful and professional performance, which made me very happy and enjoyed it.
I’m looking forward to 24 December 2024.
Thank you very much
