This is always a good warm up event to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.
We storm into a number of pubs and start acting out our Mummers Play.
Although we clear it in advance with the management, the public who are out
enjoying a few drinks have no idea what is about to hit them. The motley
dressed ensemble cast burst through the doors and start their performance
shouting out their lines at the top of their voices. “In comes I…….” It’s always
great to see the look of astonishment on people’s faces!
This year we enjoyed the hospitality of The Queens Head, Sit & Sip, The Crispin,
The Victoria Arms and The Ship. All proved to be good venues although there
were some challenges finding space to perform – particularly in the Victoria
Arms where there was barely any standing room let alone space to ‘die’.
Great to see new faces in different roles in The Mummers – particularly our
new Little Swing Swang who bore an uncanny resemblance to Captain Jack
Sparrow!
All the pubs were great but a special mention goes to The Queens Head and
The Crispin for generously helping to quench the thirst of the parched
thespians. Also it should be said that the crowd in The Ship was amazing and
very supportive – so a big thanks to them too.
