150823 Shepherd & Flock, Farnham and the Good Intent, Puttenham

‘The largest inhabited roundabout in the UK’*! The ‘Shepherd & Flock roundabout. Our Fool was in full blather mode tonight, we could barely shut him up – geography, geology, pub signs, local history and, inevitably, soil types. All evening…

A fine evening with a small, surprised but appreciative audience. Started off with an ambitious ‘Black Joke’, Ilmington – a dance new to us this year.  A languid atmosphere with none of the lads rushing to get into sets and get on – everyone saving themselves for the Snaith Weekend? Paul, Baz and David did a double jig ‘Ladies Pleasure’, Paul dancing Fieldtown and Baz, Bledigton. Very good. The following pictures are of us dancing Jolly Jack Tars, Bl.

Onto the Good Intent, now quite dark, where we had an already very jolly birthday party who got considerably jollier as the evening went on…

Oliver Cromwell at prayer. Pub probably named after ‘Good Intent’ trading ships.

Generous landlord, thank you! Better, more focussed dancing here, lots more banter and laughter. Very sweaty lads as the humidity rose. Fool continued to blather…. Assorted spotlights came on, faintly theatrical. Horse had a pleasant stumble in the dark, snuggling up to assorted screaming ladies. Two volunteers were prevailed upon to join us in BGG – and they did very well! A final vigorous Upton Stickie saw the end of the proceedings.

We are fortunate to have such great pubs as these on our doorstep.

Pick of the performance, a rousing Jolly Jack Tar and pick of the beers was the Good Intent Pale Ale
