180723 Nelson Arms and Hop Blossom

A rather nice evening! Nelson Arms always used to be dark and cosy, a pub for a warm night in on a cold winter;’s night. Not any more – the outside seating has really transformed the feel of the pub – and it was busy! Keen public – cameras, questions and much applause. The Horse starred, making merry with many maidens.

Danced outside the Alms Houses, jigged next to the pub and eventually danced on the broad, busy Castle Street fronted by Georgian gems. Plenty of passing pedestrians who stopped and enjoyed the show. Some pretty good dancing as well. Good to see Monty out with us in kit, he was generous in his praise of one of our newer dances, the D&P from Ilmington.

A pleasant stroll via Long Garden Walk to the Hop Blossom, another great pub. All the customers came out and were eager to chat – another great audience. The Darkstar Hophead was excellent as was the barmaid who made us really welcome.

An enjoyable evening for everyone, not that you would realise from the photos – the lads looking most dour!
