16052023 Queen’s Oak, Finchampstead and Frog & Wicket, Eversley and a CatchUp

Gorgeous Queen’s Oak, we still comment on the  wonderful tarmac – such a change from the old potholed, dodgy dancing surface.

Great to see Chris Chapple back in the music.

Still missing many of the big apes, bare 6 dancers for a lot of the evening, but excellent turnout from our musicians. Tim and Ross calling, best not to mention the hilariously iffy start to the progressive ‘Tuesday Night’.  Some sound dancing, with many of the old lags/apes complimenting Keith literally stepping up.

Hi to the Wooders family.  Horse considerately hid himself away.

F&W

Unexpected surprise to find neighbours and friends Fleet Morris and OBJ Morris (in large numbers, with a big band sound) mid-performance. The audience had a great opportunity to enjoy three sides in performance. The Horse had an excellent time causing mayhem round the tables and amongst the other performers.

A good joinny inny dance for all three sides to finish proceedings off nicely.

Pick of the evening – Darkstar’s ‘Hophead’ and ‘Dance for Sam’, Ilmington

An invitation from Coxhill Manor Nursing Home in Chobham resulted in a good session with happy residents and staff. The home was warm and intimate with a confusing double booking with Chobham Morris.  Really nice to respond to these invitations and spread some lively Morris cheer!

The impromptu pub after was also convivial. The Four Horseshoes, Chobham way had an appreciative audience – and an excellent pint of Landlord.

02052023 Another nice invitation to talk about, demo and teach the Morris to three classes at Hurst Lodge School in Yateley. Prestigious accomodation, we were relieved to be able to perform outside. Perfect. Really good sessions, demo’ed Ladies Pleasure from Fieldtown, Skirmish (Adderbury), Highland Mary (Bampton) and taught Bonny Green (Bampton). All very good. The Horse was very popular! Participants Tim, Ian S, Baz, Horse, Ross and Phil all nicely warmed up for our Tuesday evening dance out…creak, groan…

02052023 Phoenix, Hook or Hartey Wintney or Phoenix Green

Very limited numbers and miserable weather might have meant for a dull evening at the Phoenix., Hook BUT we were with the ever lovely and accomplished Jackstaws Morris, so all was well! Rugs rolled up to reveal a wonderful flagstone dance floor. Jackstraws gave their normal immaculate display. Good music session after too. Very generous and welcoming pub in the best tradition of British hospitality, much appreciated.
