….And they’re off and dancing, first Tuesday night of the season! Hastily organised event following a diary clash (bit complicated). Lovely bright evening…… welcoming pub, friendly locals and supportive beeping from cars on the A30.

Retired crew had already danced and taught three classes at Hurst Lodge School that day, although you wouldn’t have known it by their sparkling, and sprightly dancing. Excellent turn out by our great, but a bit chilly, musicians

Keith warmly ‘thanked’ the Fool for his loud announcement that this was Keith’s first time out in kit! Keith looked very smart and danced durn well, after a nervous Bumpus O’Stretton, especially the tricky new ‘Black Joke’, Ilmington – another first.

Lovely to see so many of our lovely MWAGs out supporting us – a chattering bench load!

Canadian car load delighted to stumble on some authentic English activity.

Local scouts on an urban hike stared goggle eyed – we missed an opportunity here to invite them to have a go at dancing.

Squires long programme of dances shortened in the second half. The fourth time that day that some of the lads had danced Highland Mary and Skirmish…you would have thought we could have got it right on the fourth attempt!!

Busy public bar so everyone piled into the quiet (but not for long) and cosy saloon bar.

Butcombe beer was our pick of the night.

A very satisfactory start to the season.
