A Busy Winter !

A brief update on what we have been upto during our quiet ‘practice season’. Busier than we thought…

DONATIONS

Thanks to you, our generous audiences and supporters, we have been able to donate to a very worthy charity which is, literally, on our doorstep. Thank you for your generosity over the Christmas season and for your continuing support of the Yateley Morris Men.

From Yateley Pantry:

Lovely to meet you all earlier and thank you so much for your donation, it is much appreciated. We rely heavily on volunteers and donations to keep the pantry going, so we are very grateful to you.

Our Community Pantry helps over 500 families in the area and your donation will help us continue to provide much needed support for those who need it most.

We are just about to fit a professional kitchen into the space, so that we can create a Community Cafe which in partnership with our new Community Allotment, will help create a cycle of fresh seasonal food which will further help and support the community and reduce food waste.

Best,

Sheldon McMullan | CEO

RAPPER

A small, and smiling, group of stalwarts have been getting back into practicing rapper under the patience guidance of Andy. We have used instructional notes and videos from Ellington Morris to help us. We hope to, gulp, do some Rapper in public soon.

AN AFTERNOON WITH THE GOLDEN CIRCLE LADIES GROUP IN OWLSMOOR

A lovely invitation to present the joys of the Morris and to do some dances. We found out that the name  Golden Circle represented the wedding ring. Three dances, two jigs and talks on the history of the morris, morris music and our kit came to an abrupt end when our Horse arrived unannounced from the back of the hall. Chaos continued as Ian, our squire, tried to tell people about the Horse – who was meanwhile taking liberties…… A nice afternoon.

PRACTICE

Bledington, Bampton, Lichfield, Adderbury, Ilmington and Eynsham all taught by our great foremen, Baz, Andy and Ross. Lots of general merriment with the usual dancer/musician banter. Quite a lot of new dances and/or revived dances to show off in the spring. Looking good so far….

KENNET ALE

A lovely evening with close neighbours and friends, Kennet Morris Men. Lots of mass dances and lots of singing. Lots of Morris dancers from lots of sides. Lovely Loddon beers. Lots of that as well.
