The walking tour of Wokingham by the Yateley Village Mummers is now a fixed feature in our diary, so is newly and officially ‘Traditional’!
Tim & Andy did all the extensive planning – and then Andy crocked his back. Oh no, disaster, could the show go on …..? Step forward Mike as a volunteer, but could he get kit, lift and lines together in time…? Such backstage excitement! All was well, and Mike (more Attila the Hun than Turkish Knight) was just brilliant.
7:30 Hope & Anchor
8:00 Broad Street Tavern
8:45 The Crispin inn
9:30 The Victoria Arms
10:00 The Ship
Friendly, busy pubs and welcoming crowds appreciated our leaflets about Mumming – lots of good conversations. We also posted on Facebook our performances at each pib, a sort of running commentary.
A grand tour of noise, laughter, bemusement and joy as we continue to support this fine English tradition using source material from the local area. Lots of newish Mummers including Keith, heart pounding and hands sweating did a grand job as the Red Morocca King on his very first outing!
Thanks to Andy Merritt and Issy Fandango for the photos and your lovely support!
Ian Sutherland (KG Boo), Phil Goddard (FC Hurrah!) , Tim Lloyd GP, Mark Russell (Frog Cape), Keith Colbert (Phew! RMK), Mike Clarke (hero TK), Rossco (LSS ‘Best Man’)
