Lovely winter sunshine greeted us for our biggest and best day of the year. Great colourful top hats, Christmas decorations, most illuminated. The Fool’s Hat a sorry exception.
The dance programme was full of dances with Christmas tunes, with occasional ripples of singing form the crowd as they recognised the tunes – might have to follow that up next year… The dancing was done with spirit, any technical failings were lost in the all pervading joie de vie. Lots of new Mummers hammed it up excellently with lots of enthusiasm. Our lovely crowds seemed to love it! Very large crowds with many old friends and lots of children (great) – very good humoured, eager to participate and very generous when the collecting hat and horse went round (thank you). Some shorts videos at the bottom!
The other Horse had a luvverly time at the Queen’s Oak, romping around with abandon. Not so at the D&P, he managed to get locked into the Lloyd’s horse box and was not seen….
We had a nice reporter/photographer from Wokingham Today join us at the Queen’s Oak, a lovely writeup.

A special word about Keith C who last year at the D&P expressed an interest in having a go at Morris dancing. Exactly one year on, Keith was with us dancing AND performing in the Mummers. If YOU fancy getting into this fine English tradition, get in touch.
A final thank you to the D&P for greeting us with jugs of beer when we arrived, really generous and hugely appreciated. We have never seen the Fool move so quickly…..

What a fantastic turn out for the Yateley Morris Men yesterday!
The Sun was shining and everyone was filled with Christmas spirit
We are very proud to be the home of the Yateley Morris Men and you can often find them in the pub on a Tuesday evening in the winter after practise.
Long may the tradition continue for years to come
