A firm fixture on our programme. Great weather AGAIN, warm and sunny. No tree stumps and green baize this year, new and enormous marquees that covered virtually all of the car park.
Our fully-hopped Fool (hat, nose and stomach) noisily got proceedings underway to huge roars of appreciation from a lovely audience. Lifted by this vociferous support, the lads put on a spirited performance aided by the naughty Horse and Fool. A competition ‘guess what hop variety is in the Fool’s hat’ saw two winners and one outrageous ‘fix’ (not that anyone minded) – a lovely tankard and badge were presented to the winners. One guy asked if we had key-rings for sale (of course!) and proudly showed us his set of keys – loads of YMM keyring – a true supporter and a testament to the durability of our key-rings.

Squire, with great wisdom, had programmed 4 sessions and this worked well. Keeping us fresh and the audience involved. Due to sad and unforeseen circumstances we were missing a few dancers, but everyone stepped up (ho ho), especially Mike and Phil, also our musicians (bless ‘em). The Fool bellowed and embarrassed, tickled and romped – the Horse roamed freely around the tables and behind the bar – not all of the barmaids loved him…. Plenty of opportunity to guzzle beer, every one sampled was of interest and in excellent nick.

Our host, Peter, came within grabbing range and was grabbed by the Fool who announced that was a great event at a great pub and that Peter was a great landlord – much applause and hooting from the lads and the audience for Peter who was still gripped firmly by the Fool, Peter blushed…
Picks of the day, the delicious Dark Landlord and Beaux of London when a local belle kissed the Fool back to life again…and then all the lads!.
One of the lads said ‘….a good event became a great event…’. See y’all next year!
