Two Morris friendly pubs…and rightly popular with lots of local Morris sides! The Squire had playfully produced a programme of ‘not danced very often’ dances to keep us on our toes…
Good crowd at the lovely Calleva Arms enjoying summer sunshine on the benches, with happy smiling children – that stopped abruptly when the Brute appeared (much howling…). Appreciative and knowledgable audience. YMM didn’t seem to be firing on all cylinders, maybe because the dancing area was a bit distant from our audience. Good Fullers beers.
Off to Plough, Little London a real Hampshire hidden gem. Still warm as dusk fell with dancers getting sweatier by the dance. Really nice to welcome YOB Ed Rennie, Annie and Jacob … and Myrtle all the way from Cornwall, hope to see you all again soon. We did get into gear here, entertaining a noisy crowd with great gusto and regular bellowing. The Brute was more of a hit here, with one one request to ‘decorate the Horse for Christmas’ – hmmm, no paint, glitter or permanent attachments.. Jacob Rennie dances with Tinners Morris (great lads who we bantered with at Chippenham FF a few years ago) and joined us in the Upton Stick dance – did really well.
Picks of the evening, Perridge Pots Pale Ale and Upton stick dance.
Generous landlord (thank you!) and a determined effort at an apres dance music session inside.
